Taste of Cincinnati

We were coming home from Thun by train on Saturday, and The Man came by to check my ticket. I gave him my ticket, he looked at it and saw I was going to Lyss. Then he told me that when we get to Bern to switch trains, the train I need is on track 12. I was like 'I know' cuz like I do this all the time. So then I asked Shelly, 'Why do you think he did that, Is it that obvious that we are foreign?' and her answer was 'Your wearing a T-shirt that says 'Walts Barbeque, Cincinnati OH, with a smiling cartoon pig on it.'
Special Thanks to John and Julie for the Shirt. We're keeping it real. Blog updates soon, I promise.

Wishing Everyone a Happy Memorial Day!

Shelly rants about the laundry.

Today, Shelly is going to complain about the laundry arrangements. *passes mic*

I know that I have told a few people about the laundry situation here but here is my rant. The first problem is that we have a very complicated road map to tell use what day and what machine you are a allowed to use (Exhibit A). As you can see from the highlights I have 2 days in a row 1 time a month, which brings me to my second problem. I think it would be better to have two different times in a month. With me not working I can get it all done in the first day most of the time.
My next rant is that there has been a few times that it has carried over to the second day and I was yelled at (ok maybe sternly talked to)by the house lady. I guess they have a crazy rule that you have to be done with every thing by 5 pm on the second day, which how in the world could I be able to do that if I was working? Come to think about it if your days in the month fall on Friday and Saturday you have to be done by 1 pm on Saturday because people can sign up to be able to use the machines if they need them. So that is a good point becuase if Mike spills chili on your favorite shirt you could wash it on the Saturday if there is an open slot (limit of two time slots though). Usually the same people are signed up on most of the Saturday slots, which I understand because I think they have children.

(Exhibit A)

So the next few rants are about the acutal wash process. First it really took me some time to figure out the machines because well they are all in German and have like a million buttons.

Machine 2 is mine, it is the one with all the wonderful clothes soaps and softners on it. I have still not figured that out yet. I am not sure which one is normal laudary soap and which one is fabric softner. I think that I have been doing it right, or at least I hope so. Not sure why no one else is taking advantage of their wash day.
Ok here comes the last rant and the most crazy I think. So we do not have a normal conventional dryer but instead we have a DRYING ROOM! Oh yes you read that right we have a room that you hang your clothes in and it dries them (well kind of).

You have to hang all your clothes on clothes lines in this room and there is a crazy machine that sucks the moisture out of them. It takes some time and you have to flip the clothes around sometimes to get them all the way dry.

Well ok I guess I am done ranting about the laundry now. It is fresh in my mind because I just had my laundry day last Friday and Saturday. So now you will have some idea of what I have been talking about regarding the laundry.

over and out.

Nidau castle.

So we were hanging out in Biel and then one of us was all like 'hey what's that?' and then the other was all like 'a castle!' and then we went to check it out, but it was closed. It's on the to-do list, but first let's go to France.

Ice cream!

There is a place in Lyss that claims they are in the Guiness book for the most varieties of Ice Cream Sundaes offered. I haven't looked into it, but We've already begun the challenge of completing them all. If you visit, I'll bring you here!
